MILWAUKEE (WITI) — U.S. Marshals are looking for 37-year-old Prentiss Rhodes.
Rhodes and others were accused of playing roles in a 2001 crime involving kidnapping and torture.
Investigators say Rhodes and other associates held a man at a north side car wash — trying to get him to say where he was holding a large amount of cash and drugs.
Officials say the now closed down car was was run by a family linked to a notorious gang: the Ghetto Boys.
The man was taken into a room at the car wash, bound and blindfolded.
“Ended up shooting him in the foot, beating him with a baseball bat and burning him with cigarettes to get him to reveal the location where he was hiding money and/or drugs that he had to sell. At one point he just asked them to shoot him in the back of the head because I think he just kinda came to terms with the fact that he was gonna die,” Deputy U.S. Marshal Zack Kadish said.
Kadish believes there would have been a murder, had one of the guards not fallen asleep — allowing the victim to quietly wander out of the wash.
U.S. Marshals say Rhodes spent nearly a decade behind bars, but when he got out he eventually dropped off of law enforcement’s radar.
“Prentiss has fallen off the map and we’re really not sure where he is or what he’s doing,” Kadish said.
Law enforcement officials believe Rhodes could be hiding out on Milwaukee’s north side. He may be using the alias “Timothy Turner.”
